Prior Travels

R.I.P. Ainstragg

He died the very next morning. I failed my ‘Hide’ roll but couldn’t cancel my move into BL-1. A spider was waiting for me, which I thought I could take on with my H4** fight chit (which I picked for speed,) but turns out I should have just gone for the T6* cause then when I’d hit, if I’d hit in that case, I would have actually killed the thing and saved a fatigue on one of my asterisks. As it was, I hit but didn’t kill, which I don’t understand, and then got hit in return because the Spider undercut me and that was game over.

Next time I’m playing an Amazon. Her free MOVE phase should come in handy covering ground on the board and if I can trade up my L weapon for a M weapon I should be able to take on bigger monsters.

Moving On

So today is the day this whole transfer thing is happening. something could go horribly, horribly wrong. Or it could not. I really have no idea so of course I’m thinking things will be way worse than they actually are, I guess we’ll find out. If something does go wrong, then at least I have the weekend to fix it, and when we all come together again on Monday, there will actually be something here to come for.

Game of I’ve Read the Books

I skipped GoT this year. Mostly. I caught the first episode, sat down once to watch the second, but decided to binge the second season of ‘Hannibal’ instead. It’s not a decision I regret. I hear there was quite the finale at the end of the season this year. Which for some of us, isn’t all that surprising.

I think I was over GoT once I saw this video:

That, looks amazing and I want to watch it right now. Or ‘The Peter Dinklage Hour’ because that show would also be amazing. Much like the books, there are certain characters, as soon as they show up on the TV, I check-out mentally until they disappear. Try as I might, I just can’t bring myself to care about Sansa. Her sister Arya is AMAZING. But Sansa, of all the people to die, why not her?

But even Dinklage wasn’t enough to keep my interest this year. Maybe, someday, if someone loans me the DVDs I could see myself catching up on it. Or if I can get HBO Go without having to use an Apple device that would be nice.

Ainstragg and the Magic Realm, Pt. 1

I think I might be figuring this game out. I’ve survived for a month this time. It’s involved a lot of hiding, literally no fighting, running away when I couldn’t hide, and I’m also no closer to achieving my victory requirements. But! I’m alive, and that’s a step in the right direction.

I’m Ainstragg, the Dwarf. My stout legs carried me from the Curst Valley and the friendly Guards. Through the Dark Valley and over the mountainous Ledges I’ve traveled in search of 5 Great Treasures. On the other side of Nut Woods, I came upon a vast cave system. From the Ruins, to the Borderlands, and into the dark Caves, under the High Pass in the long forgotton hold, I’ve gone in search of treasures, treasures that call incessantly to my Dwarven soul. I’ve hidden from trolls and giants, dragons and spiders.

I’ve seen the signs of many great hoards, but I’ve been unable to plunder them. Yet I hear tell of a great Cavern, and Deep Woods that may yet hold riches that are within my reach. One lies over the High Pass, and the other across the face of the Magic Realm itself I must travel to reach. Mayhaps there I’ll have better luck, because here it runs in short supply, and there is the roar and smoke of Dragons all around me.

Rolling Out All Summer Long

Last week I removed the last holdover from the very first version of the site, the header/logo/blah thing up in the corner. Moving to something simpler, sleeker, less middle-school craft project gone awry looking. I’ve got a few other tweaks for the site planned, adding a page, changing some more cosmetics, sketchbook section, that kind of thing.

It’s not going to happen all at once, but slowly, as I puzzle each painful CSS and HTML alteration out one by one. I’m hoping it’ll be fully operational by August and the anniversary.

If there’s anything you’d like to see, or something I’m currently doing wrong that you’d like me to fix, please feel free to share.
