Prior Travels

50/50

There’s a 50/50 chance that at some point this week, when the strips are done and posted, and next week is at least roughed out, I’ll be updating the Cast page.  Bogdan and the other villagers are important enough now, and will be making regular appearances, that I should probably say something about them. Ditto for Haimo.  The festivites of last week threw me off more than I thought, add to that family staying for the weekend and work was not done.  Games were played, but work was not done.

Dominion and Castles of Burgundy, both fantastic games, if you do play them, awesome, if you don’t, you should, and you should also wrangle your friends into playing as well.  Both games are built for four, but can play two and three just as well. I have 50/50 strategies for both, 50% of the time I lose, 50% of the time I don’t come in last, this weekend was a losing weekend. Cookies were baked to make up for it.

Preview for next week:

WP_20141124_001

This is what’s going to happen next.  Probably. This is the third version, what you’ll see after pencil hits paper is the fourth version.  At this point, the broad strokes will be the same, it’s the little things that change.  I want to add, this next storyline will be somewhat influenced by my love of Prince Valiant, the Fall of Andelkrag, and what happens after.  Obviously Merunga has not lost her castle and burned her lady-folk to death in the attic while charging the enemy suicidally, that won’t happen, at all, so, spoiler alert, expect no castles.

We also might get tied down to an actual historical date, not firmly tied down, but let’s start wrapping our minds around 500 AD, give or take a decade.  Europe was entering the second phase of the Migration Period, after the Huns were gone, but more Goths, some Slavs, and various other peoples were getting ready to move in.

This story was a little harder to come by, because it’s an addition to the master plan.  The next big event is about two stories away, maybe more, I want to pad it out some, develop some more emotional investment before I rip it all away. So I knew this time and space needed to be taken, but the who, and what, and where, were all up in the air. Now that that is all settled though, we can get on with the show.

Jumping Low Hurdles

Hitting a milestone this week, repeatedly.  Monday was the first day Merunga crested the 100 visitors in a day mark, thank you to everyone who stopped by!  Tuesday was the second day, and Wednesday makes three.  I’m hoping we can keep that number up there for Thursday (today) and Friday, close it out in style.

100 visitors was number four on my list of benchmarks when I started this project, and the first ‘difficult’ goal to accomplish.  The first three were merely things I could do, and they would be done.  Number Four required me to do something, but it required you to act on it, and together, we made it, thank you again!

100 visitors is also not a very big number, but it is a feel good number, and I do feel good about it, next we’re shooting for 500, so let’s get on that shall we?

Also want to plug Facebook and Google+ again, if you like to like those things, please go ahead and do so.  Not sure what goal we should set on that one, so let’s just see what we get.

Couple of New Things…

Now we’re on Facebook and Google+! Which aren’t new things in and of themselves, nor am I new to either service (though I’ve only ever visited my Google+ page once, the day a friend signed me up for it) instead, there are new pages dedicated to the site now available to like, and share with friends and family, which I sincerely hope you do.  I hear there are other social media sites (Pinterest, StumbleUpon, Reddit, other…) but I highly doubt I’ll get around to having a direct presence there, so you’ll have to pick up that slack.

Also in the new category, assuming I do this right and get everything set to appear when are where it’s supposed to appear, a dedicated blog section instead of only a blog attached to individual strips.  There are a couple of reasons for this change, the biggest being feedback from you, my readers.  I want to know what your opinions are, and I hope this will promote sharing of said opinions.  Am I doing well, am I doing poorly, do you like the art, detest the writing, vice versa, don’t be shy, please.

All that being said, feel free to comment down below, or on the new pages (FB and G+,) and as always, I hope you’re enjoying the story!
