A Meal, for the Condemned
Chapter One of our next, and of course, exciting, story. Chapter seems a bit bold a name for a single strip, so we’ll call a week a chapter and a day, a paragraph?
Semantics aside, this is where things start to fall apart. Merunga has always been in control of her destiny, and she won’t take kindly to losing that control, but she won’t be able to do much to stop it either. Vaagen, who will get quite a bit of the spotlight now and for the recent future, will play a part in that, not as big a part as he would like, but a part nonetheless. Most of Vaagen’s ‘screen’-time has been through bars, a situation he’ll finally correct. How long that change lasts, we’ll (you’ll, I of course, already know,) have to wait and see.
Panel One today was fun to draw. I never going into a perspective shot with eager anticipation. The moment in the sketching process when you realize it’ll all work out though, magical. It may not be perfect perspective, I call it perspective enough. For perspective work I don’t listen to audio stimuli, something on the screen to distract is best. To that end Battlestar Galactica (2004) and Man of Steel served their purpose well.
