Dirt is hard to draw.  I hope it reads as dirt, and not just scribble scrabbles.   I tried it about, two, three different ways before settling on this.  Believe it or not the other ways were harder.

It reminds me of a video I watched once, made by a comic-penciller, on the art of penciling.  He was adding decorative elements to something or other, and it was all just random design stuff, he went on and on about how much he loved it.  That kind of stuff gives me the sweats.  I’m instantly convinced I’m doing it wrong and it looks terrible.  But, he also said he hated repetitive design, it was boring.  That is where I thrive, I may draw the same thing over and over and over, but at least I feel like I’m doing it right.
