I don’t envy the artists that draw Spawn. Chains are hard work. I’m sure, that like anything else, they become easier as you draw them more, developing your own shorthand method for construction and rendering, but it’s a mess of lines and angles that trips me up everytime. I only collected Spawn comics for a very brief time during the second phase of my comics-collecting career. Issues 31-44, Greg Capullo was pulling double duty, pencils on that book, and writing Wizard’s ‘How to Draw Comics’ segment. His installment on perspective taught me tricks I still use to this day. His Batman stuff looks pretty good, if I could bring myself to read a Batman comic.
