I’m not sure what the rules are exactly, about how self-deprecating you’re supposed to be on these things. You know, keep it up beat, everything is the best, yadda-yadda, but today, not my favorite. I don’t blame the execution really, once I decided on the direction I wanted to take the image, I went for it, and spent as much, if not more time on it, than I do on every other day, I don’t fault myself on that end. But it was I believe, a failure of vision. I just could not find the shot I wanted.

This is the seventh iteration of today’s strip. I started from a point of wanting the image only, I didn’t want there to be a lot of chatter cluttering up our first image of Torgo, instead I opted to have the Gates of Torgo cluttering up our first image of Torgo. I tried the regular landscape, I tried some double size images, I like the orientation we have here, it is closest to the image I had in my head of today’s strip, problem is, that image was not, and still isn’t, exactly what I want. What makes it worse is that Monday’s strip is one of my all time favorites, then two days later, here we are.

In a perfect world, I’d load this into a 3D program and orbit the camera around until I found it, that one perfect shot, and then go from there, but alas, not a perfect world. I’ve said this before about other strips, and I’ll not only say it about today’s strip but I’ll move it to the top of the list, if ever there was a strip I want to eventually edit out and replace with a brand new version, this is it. The elements in the image, I like all those, I know what they all are, and when we’ll see them next. But the composition, it’s just not there for me.
