I had just finished this page when I read Larry Hama’s list.  Number 7 about killed me, that is exactly how I think about backgrounds, and why there isn’t much going on in the backgrounds of the first two panels. I debated just shading them in, but that would have been just as useless. I need to adjust my thinking, think of it as a scene, full of fore, middle, and background, instead of an image, with some scribbles to fill in the negative space.
