In the Pale Moonlight
Honestly, I’m very conflicted about this one. It came off almost exactly how I pictured it, how I wanted it to, and only now as I gaze upon it ready for upload do I doubt my vision. I’m not even 100% what about it bothers me.
I debated a complete redo with myself, and myself won the arguement on keeping it by playing the ‘If we change it now it’ll be late,’ card. I can see myself updating it when I’m putting strips together for a book. Maybe by then I’ll know what about it seems off, and more importantly, how to fix it.
Also, the title is a bit cliche.
I don’t know about the title, but the strip seems just fine to me. Although my mind doesn’t really know what to do with the lowest horizontal frame.
Treeline at nighttime. I think that’s part of what bugs me, and I forgot to add the chicken.
Yeah well, the little chicken is not really essential to that last panel, is it? Unless you’d draw it attacking Ecko to defend Big Swordy Chicken, Giver of Food, or something. 1st time I read the strip I imagined that the hen had woken up Big Swordy Chicken, Giver of Food by cackling, Capitol geeze-style. Heh, maybe in the book version? I’ll make sure to check ;-).
As for treelinegate, I won’t say a thing. Certainly not “Hey, that treeline at nighttime looks like a horse!”. Nope, that would be mean: and funny. Both very unlike me. Not a word from me on that, no siree. Not even “Geez Louise, have you even LOOKED at a treeline at nighttime?”, which would be mean and unfunny (so halfway more like me).
OK, mayyyybe I’d say “Hey Mick, now that it is nighttime, would you care for a nice walk? Hey, I never before noticed how nice that treeline looks. I guess you just put me in that mood.” which would be very romantic and stuff, but then I’d have to spend the rest of my life hiding in a cave to escape the ninja assassins sent by your wife and I don’t think I’d like that, because there are no treelines in caves.
Oh man, sorry it took so long to get back on this one, and I appreciate you never ever ever mentioning Treelinegate ever again, or at length, or going on and on about it, that means a lot.
As for bushes and backgrounds, it was a gamble I think, and it could have been better, but I am happy with my result. I’ll be using these kinds of backgrounds to supplement while I develop my own skill at drawing nature things, which are hard, but not as difficult as horses.
Also I wanted to let you know I like what you did with the bush (and to be clear, by that I mean last panel’s background, let’s avoid ninja assassin situations).
