I am really, insanely pleased with Merunga’s hand in that first panel. Seriously, it’s my favorite. Also, I kind of dig Baba’s face in panel two, and usually, usually I say I don’t fall in love with something I’ve drawn so much that I won’t change it if I don’t think it needs changed, but this is not usually. Panels 2 and 3 need rethought. I should have centered them more, or made them wider to help eat up some of the odd negative space on the left side of the page. However, clearly I did not do that.

When I’m roughing in a page it’s all stick figures and circles to start with, and then I’ll work here and there, filling in details for random stuff, concentrating on the things I’m interested in, faces and hands. So the intermediate stage of the page are very detailed random heads and hands, and then a lot of scribbly circles and sticks all over the rest of the page. So Baba’s face got completely filled in before I really looked at the composition, and realized it was wrong. But I really didn’t want to have to redo that face, and not be able to redraw it. And again I say, usually, I’ll erase and redraw if I have too, but I really didn’t want to.
