The Care and Keeping of Mouse
I’ll be honest with you guys, Outlander was a bust. Turns out, not a fan of the dirty-girl-books. That may be a slight to ‘Outlander,’ or a slight to dirty-girl-books, I’m not sure which. Not my cup of tea.
This Nathaniel Hawthorne collection I’m reading though, that’s some good stuff. In addition to the hard-boiled private eye anthology. Solid, both of them. It could be that my current play list while working on Merunga is ‘The New Adventures of Michael Shayne.’ That reckless red-headed Irishman, back in his old haunts of New Orleans. I haven’t heard another radio show set in New Orleans. Lamont Cranston would occasionally visit, but only to stop some weirdly demented Cajun from exacting revenge on someone who was related to the Cajun in a distant and convoluted fashion.
Mike Shayne, I’d say, in my top ten for old radio shows, not sure if I’d bump to top five, definitely not top three. But worth a listen for sure.
Is the word balloon in the first panel supposed to be out frame, to build mystery?
I like the idea that we’re coming into their conversation when it’s already in progress. We’ve managed to arrive just after the mundane details, and just before anything actually important is said.
